Problems That Confronted the First Women Jurors in Berks County
March 18 @ 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm
Trustee, author, and retired attorney Brian Engelhardt, Esq., explores the difficulties that female jurors faced despite the passage of the 19th Amendment, which granted women the right to vote in 1920. Legislation in PA guaranteed jury service to women; however, getting their names on the jury roll proved monumental. It was not nearly as challenging as finding the ladies room within the existing courthouse, as there were none – talk about problems.
