July 1, 2017
Enjoy a journey through the remarkable story of America’s founding and gain a deeper understanding of the people, events, and ideals that gave birth to the nation by joining the Berks History Center and visit the NEW Museum of the American Revolution. Mingle among an Oneida council meeting, stand beneath a full-scale reproduction of the Liberty Tree and view General George Washington’s headquarters tent! Lunch will be at the historic City Tavern Restaurant which was the location of the first Fourth of July celebration in 1777 and George Washington’s Pre-Inaugural Ball. Chef Straib will WOW you with your entrée choices of Colonial Turkey Pot Pie or Paillard of Salmon (includes salad, fruit cobbler dessert and coffee/tea). In the afternoon a tour is scheduled at the Philadelphia History Museum (formerly the Atwater Kent Museum) where the 330-year-old story of this great city is told through furniture, art, needlework, silver, toys and more.
