BEER & PRETZELS exhibition opens THIS Saturday at noon

1- Society curator Joshua Blay has been working 7 days a week---
along with a dedicated crew of local beer & pretzel memorabilia
collectors---to ready the exhibit for this Saturday's (Dec. 1st)
opening at noon.

YOU ARE INVITED. It's all free of charge.

Below are photos taken at random of bits and pieces of the exhibit.
As is evident, much remains to be done between now and Saturday.

A great deal of effort has gone into providing informative
labeling of the exhibit items.



Notice below the magnificent Lauer mansion that fronted on South 3rd,
just north of Chestnut....on the west side of the street.
In its last days, the Lauer Brewery hotel--near the corner--was
operated by the Borelli family.
























CORRECTION to the SCHWARZWALD U.C.C. Christmas bazaar and dinner date

2- The previous News-Bits dispatch was in error in regard to
the day of Schwarzwald's upcoming church bazaar and dinner.

The much anticipated event will occur THIS COMING SATURDAY,
December 1st, starting at 3 and running till 7.






Colonial Candlelight Holiday Reception--Sat.urday, Dec. 8th

3- COLONIAL CANDLELIGHT HOLIDAY RECEPTION
Saturday, December 8, 2007
1-5:30 PM Beidler House / Allegheny Aqueduct Park, Gibraltar PA

Come see this beautiful house by candlelight! Enjoy its magical,
warm glow!

Enjoy holiday music and refreshments!

Feast your eyes on traditional fresh greens adorning the
mantel, hall and staircase!

Featured this year are the Amity Colonial Dancers performing
dances of the Colonial era to the accompaniement of the
harpsichord, played by Dr. Helen May.

This program is a free holiday event open to the public.

SUNDAY afternoon, DEC. 2nd, starting at 1 p.m. - Release and autographing of VOLUME 15

4- PASSING SCENE--VOLUME 15 will be available for purchase
and having it autographed beginning this SUNDAY, Dec. 2nd

The Society's museum shop will be open from 1 to 4, during
which time Volume 15 will be autographed for those wishing to
have their books "signed."







CENTRE PARK Historic District's annual Christmas House-Tour--Dec. 9th

5- 23rd ANNUAL CHRISTMAS HOME-TOUR of Centre Park area---Dec. 9th

This very popular annual Christmas Home-Tour is
scheduled for SUNDAY, December 9th...from 1 to 6

Tickets may be purchased the day of the tour at a
booth in Centre Park---at Centre Ave. and Douglass---
across from the Society's HENDEL HOUSE.

As usual, the Victorian homes on the tour will be lavishly
decorated for the season.

And also as usual, refreshments for those participating
in the house tour will be available in the Connor Auditorium
at the Historical Society's headquarters at 940 Centre Avenue.

AND, as was featured in last year's tour, the HENDEL HOUSE
will be open for a Christmas Boutique that will offer all
manner of decorative and practical (and edible) goods!

A day or two ago, much effort went into bedecking Hendel
House with holiday decorations.
