There are 1,222 veterans buried in the cemetery, including one reinterred from the French & Indian War (1756-1763). The largest number of veterans here were in the Civil War. Also buried here is Ludwig Wollenweber, a German journalist, newspaper editor, story- and play-writer. He wrote the well-known Mountain Mary story...and Celia of the Union Canal. His detailed and ornate tombstone is 10 feet east of the cemetery office's front door. His mansion on the High St. in Womelsdorf survives--west of the church and nearly opposite the town's library. Those who have not visited Aulenbach’s during the past year of so will notice repairs to the buildings, cemetery road improvement, and repair to the flag pole—in honor of the veterans interred here. State Representatives Tom Caltagirone and Dante Santoni secured grant money to make the needed repairs and improvements. ======================= ================= ======================= ================= AMERICAN MUSEUM OF VETERINERY MEDICINE OPEN HOUSE...open to all!
