The eBay item number is 2350680653 and is advertised as Southern Berks Restaurant! ![]() For the record, Landis Store latterly was in an ancient-looking one-story frame structure on the right side of the hotel building. When the store closed, several decades ago, the frame add-on was removed to make way for a parking lot. The U.S. post office here was established by N. Landis as Landis' Store on Aug. 20, 1853. On Dec. 1, 1894, the postal designation was changed to Landis Store, which closed on Apr. 20, 1956. Your editor can't say exactly when the store closed but he recalls buying a loaf and bread and 1/2-pound of bologna there during the summer of 1961. ===================== =================== =============== 6- If you have an interest in Berks County trolleys, do plan to attend a meeting at the Kutztown Area Historical Society on Wed., Dec. 17th, at 7:30.
