Moyer, who rang the church bell and tolled deaths for about 60 years. ============= =============== ================ ============= =============== ================ From the photo album: "Lover's Leap." which was on the west side of the old Nevesink Road (South 9th St. road) that once led to Poplar Neck covered bridge, which in turn led up to present-day Route 724 near the Animal Rescue League headquarters. The photographer stood with his back to Penn Street and aimed toward present-day Route 724 in Cumru Township. Construction of the West Shore By-Pass from Lancaster Avenue to Perkiomen Ave. in Exeter Twp. cut off the old Neversink Road. The site shown in the stereographic view would not be recognizable today as everything is now overgrown. The "lover's" referred to a young "Native American" (Lenni-Lenape) couple who supposedly leapt to their deaths at this site. ![]() ============ ============ ============== ============ gmmix ======= end ======= |
