About News Bits:
Attention Comcast Users: We can no longer accept subscriptions to News Bits from Comcast Highspeed Internet users. If you are a Comcast user and you want to subscribe to News Bits signup for a free Hotmail, Yahoo or Gmail account. Then subscribe to new Bits using your free email account. Again, we cannot send News Bits to a Comcast email address. Sorry about this, but it is beyond our control.
The Historical Society of Berks County News Bits is an email newsletter. It is sent out on an irregular basis. The newsletter itself is sent out as a multipart email document. Recipients can view the newsletter as either plain text or as an html (web) document, containing images and sometimes audio clips. Most email clients will allow the user to decide which version of the newsletter to display.
Unfortunately, some mail clients have trouble displaying the multipart format. For that reason we provide a web page that will display the web version of the current News Bits. This web page can be viewed at: http://www.berksweb.com/histsoc/news.html. We would suggest you bookmark the page for future reference.
Hotmail users:
In its default configuration, Hotmail will not display multipart messages. In
fact, when you receive a copy of News Bits, it will appear that you have
received an empty document. In reality, you have a copy of both versions
of News Bits.
To view News Bits in Hotmail follow these steps:
Now, when you open a copy of News Bits in your Hotmail Inbox , you will see a large block of mail headers. Under the headers you will find a box outlined in blue, in that box will be a blue colored link that is labeled: Content-type: text/html
If you click on that link you will see the News Bits in all of its glory, images and all.
